CLEANSING.Lets talk about WHY and WHEN to cleanse your face?
You should cleanse twice a day, morning and night. Here’s why?
IMPORTANCE OF MORNING CLEANSE:While you sleep, your skin repairs itself, excreting toxins and sebum that can prevent morning products from absorbing into the skin and working optimally. Also, cleansing your face in the morning removes night time products, which may contain ingredients that are not recommended for daytime use, including retinol and acids.
IMPORTANCE OF NIGHT CLEANSE:It is very important to cleanse your skin before you go to bed. Our skin through out the day absorbs dust and impurities which can clog the skin pores. At night time, our skin sheds off the dead skin cells and help promote renewal of cells. New skin cells migrate from the bottom skin layers to the surface of skin. If you do not cleanse your face at night, the new cells while migrating to the surface of skin will trap all the impurities leading to dull complexion and visible signs of aging over time.
TIP: I always recommend my clients, if you know your bedtime routine and you know you will be lazy by the time you go to sleep and will probably think of skipping the night cleanse; then set an alarm about 2 hours prior to your bed time for night cleansing. That way you will NEVER skip your night time cleansing and will ALWAYS wake up with flawless radiant skin.

HOW TO CLEANSE?Proper cleansing is crucial for maintaining skin health and for optimizing the absorption of product ingredients which you apply after cleansing. Once you cleanse your face, take a wet paper towel and rub it on your face. If you get even traces of make-up on that paper towel, cleanse your face again. This is called double cleansing. You can cleanse up to 3 times to make sure you get all the makeup off. I personally don’t like direct cleansing. Either use make-up remover wipes or a face WASH before you cleanse. Cleansing your face directly with the makeup on is like taking shower with the clothes on. You do get wet but don’t really clean your body. This is why i always recommend double or triple cleansing if you don’t use a face wash or makeup remover wipes. I personally love Neutrogena face washes. They are cost effective and very gentle on your skin.

WHAT CLEANSER SHOULD YOU USE?Choosing the right cleanser for your skin condition is the key to flawless beautiful skin. When choosing a cleanser make sure it is free of fragrance, sulfates, parabens, mineral oil and dyes. All these ingredients can change your skin condition over time without you realizing the change in your skin condition.Skin condition can be normal, dry, oily, combination or sensitive skin. A dry skin can become oily overtime and you start breaking out.An oily skin can become dry and you start to get those dry patches and uneven skin texture leading to appearance of fine lines and dull complexion.
